Project Description
This evaluation design and implementation was carried out by Cloneshouse, with behavioural insight provided by Busara, between February and May 2025. The evaluation team assessed the Impact of POCRs to national and sub-national polio eradication efforts and broader public health emergency responses. The Impact Study of POCRs covered seven countries, and 9 POCR sites, i.e. Bissau in Guinea Bissau; Yaounde and Maroua in Cameroon; Kinshasa and Tanganyika in Democratic Republic of Congo; Adiss Ababa and Hawassa in Ethiopia; Tete in Mozambique; Mogadishu in Somalia, as well as Lusaka in Zambia. A mix of quantitative and qualitative methods were applied:
- Site visits to 10 POCR sites
- Online questionnaire administered to 56 stakeholders in the seven countries
- In-person and online key informant or in-depth interviews with 40 national level key stakeholders
- Desk research on Vaccine-Derived Poliovirus (cVDPV) cases, outbreak detection and response timelines.
