Cloneshouse today held a courtesy and technical engagement with the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning at Nigeria’s National Assembly, marking the beginning of discussions toward a potential collaboration to strengthen evidence-based legislative work.
The meeting, held on February 3, 2026, brought together senior officials of the Directorate, including Dr. Obasi David Ukoha, Permanent Secretary, and Mr. Abba Dahiru Mohammed, Deputy Director (Planning), alongside Cloneshouse leadership led by Oludotun Babayemi, Chief Executive Officer, Noelle Uloko, Director of Operations, and Princess Odey, Manager at Cloneshouse Foundation.
Discussions focused on the critical role of data, policy analysis, monitoring, and evaluation in supporting legislative oversight, budget scrutiny, and informed lawmaking. The Directorate highlighted the need for credible, field-validated evidence to enable effective interrogation of ministry budgets and to strengthen accountability across government programs.
Cloneshouse shared its nationwide data infrastructure, with trained data collectors across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as its experience translating complex data into concise, decision-ready policy products for public institutions.

Both Cloneshouse and the Directorate expressed alignment on the importance of long-term, institutional partnerships and agreed on next steps, including the development of a concept note to explore areas of collaboration.
We appreciate the open and constructive engagement and look forward to contributing to stronger, evidence-driven governance outcomes in Nigeria.
